Background of the Study
Effective waste management is a significant challenge in many local government areas in Nigeria, and Nasarawa Eggon LGA in Nasarawa State is no exception. The geopolitical alignment between local and state governments, along with political priorities and inter-governmental collaboration, can significantly influence the success of waste management programs. The role of political power dynamics, inter-local government cooperation, and state-level waste management policies all contribute to how waste is managed in the region. This study seeks to evaluate the effect of these geopolitical alignments on waste management in Nasarawa Eggon LGA.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
In Nasarawa Eggon LGA, waste management practices are often inadequate due to a combination of factors, including poor political coordination, lack of infrastructure, and insufficient public awareness. Geopolitical alignments between local and state governments, as well as the influence of political power and governance structures, play a central role in shaping the waste management framework. The failure of various political actors to align on waste management goals often results in fragmented policies, inadequate funding, and inconsistent enforcement of waste management practices. This study aims to explore the impact of these geopolitical alignments on the effectiveness of waste management in Nasarawa Eggon LGA.
